The Sharkettes are one of Michigan’s newest, fastest growing synchronized swim clubs.  We are a club team based in Troy and attracting swimmers from Troy, Birmingham, Rochester, West Bloomfield and Beverly Hills/Franklin.  Currently we practice at Troy High School.  We are run as a class through Troy Continuing Education (www.troyceonline.com).

The Sharkettes was formed in  by Head Coach Erin O’Brien and Age Group Coach Olga Kouznetsova after a few of the local high school swimmers inquired about synchronized swimming in the post-season.

The club was born.

The club started out with approximately 10 girls and made it to Age Group National Competition during our second season.  Currently, our team boasts membership of approximately 20 swimmers of all levels and ages.

In 2006, our fourth competitive season, our club was represented by 10 swimmers at the US Age Group National Championships in Seattle, WA.  We had representation in every age group.  Our 12-13 Soloist, Alexa Tchekmarev, placed 2nd in the nation and placed 1st at the ASUA 1st Age Group Pan American Championships in Mexico.

In 2007, Alexa placed first in figures and solo at the US Age Group Nationals in Oxford, OH in the 13-15 Age Group.  Emily Muma and Alexa placed 7th in 13-15 Duet finals and Alexa, Emily, and Elyse Rexer placed 8th in 13-15 trio finals.  Our Head Coach, Erin O’Brien, received the 2006 Age Group Developmental Coach of the Year Award at the 2007 US Age Group Championships.  Also in 2007, our club was chosen to send representatives in the 13-15 Age Group level to compete at the Comen Cup in Geneva Switzerland.  Alexa and Emily placed 12th in duet and Alexa placed 12th in solo.
